L'Acropole des Draveurs is a beautiful trail in Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie, one of Quebec's national parks. The trail is among Sepaq's more difficult trails at a distance of about 13km round trip and an elevation gain of 800m (or x2.5 the height of the Eiffel Tower according to Sepaq's website!). The trail has very delicate vegetation along the route, particularly around the top where the landscape shifts from being densely forested to a very flat and grassy top decorated with mossy boulders. Occasionally you pass by some high altitude lakes which apparently don't have any fish in them due to the height and are accordingly among some of the clearest lakes you can encounter. This photographic journal covers sights on the route up and down and the panoramic vistas to be seen. The trail is fairly popular, with joggers passing up and down with light packs(?!) and shuttles of visitors coming in and out in waves. The switchback trail itself is well taken care of, especially the first half; the latter half begins to get into spaces where the exposed rocks and boulders begin to create a bit of a terrain challenge. Surprisingly many didn't come with hiking poles, which we credit to saving our joints on the way down. The following day we went on a trip down the Malbaie River in the middle of the gorge where we had the chance to see some of the rocky cliff details from below.
